Ontwerp Archetoys Floris Hovers / 2013
Een verzameling speelgoed voor kinderen en volwassenen, of een ontwerpproject dat ons collectieve geheugen verkent, op zoek naar tijdloze archetypen? Archetoys voldoet aan beide kanten: het idee is het geesteskind van Floris Hovers, een Nederlandse ontwerper die de eenvoud van vormen, kleuren en materialen gebruikt om een balans te zoeken tussen werk en spel, analyse en intuïtie, vakmanschap en massaproductie. De modelvoertuigen van Archetoys brengen verschillende aspecten samen: de studie van speelgoed uit het verleden, persoonlijke herinneringen, grafisch en industrieel ontwerp, de ontdekking of herontdekking van sensaties die concreet zijn en niet alleen virtueel, de geneugten van spelen en verzamelen.

A collection of toys for children and adults, or a design project exploring our collective memory, in search of timeless archetypes? Archetoys ticks both boxes: the idea is the brainchild of Floris Hovers, a Dutch designer who uses the simplicity of shapes, colours and materials to seek a balance between work and play, analysis and intuition, craftsmanship and mass-production. Archetoys model vehicles bring together a range of different aspects: the study of toys of the past, personal memories, graphics and industrial design, the discovery or rediscovery of sensations that are concrete and not simply virtual, the pleasures of playing and of collecting.
